Diabetic Shopping

My dad just found out he has diabetes.

Can anyone recommend some good places to get sugar-free products besides the normal grocery stores?

Wild by nature would probably have a good selection too.

When my mom first had diabetes, she had a really hard time figuring out what she could or couldn't eat- it's really a delicate balance.

I got her a couple of books- "Diabetes for Dummies" and a cook book (simple meals) for diabetics (i think it was sara lee) and she said that it really helped SO much, so i would def suggest picking up a couple of books. If he understands it better he'll have a better chance at complying with it

FYI, "Sugar Free" isn't always good for diabetics. There can still be a huge amount of carbohydrates in the food, but there's no "sugar"....

Also, lots of times, "sugar" gets split up between sucrose, fructose, lactose, corn syrup, sugar, etc. If you look at the ingredient list, "sugar" is pretty low on the list (meaning there's less of it than the items higher on the list), but if you combine all the types of sugar, you'll see that there is really a lot in there.....
