When should we aim to get to NY tomorrow?

When should we aim to get to NY tomorrow?
We were originally planning to leaving DC at 9am tomorrow avoid DC traffic... until we realized than everyone and their mother would be on their way to the Hampton's by the time we'd hit LI at like 2:00/2:30.
Do you think that leaving at 5:30/6:00 would be okay? We'd be getting to NY at around 10:30/11:00 I'd guess. Should the traffic be manageable? We're coming up 95 - can't leave much later since then the beltway would be a nightmare.

I travel alot from MD to LI and I would say that if you could leave around 4:30am that would be better. You will miss the rush hour traffic and until you get to NY. But by than you will have your destination in site. Also if you leave at 6;00 in the morning you will catch the rush hour in Baltimore and the Tunnel.

I would aim for a bit earlier, if you come up the turnpike and hit the GW you are gonna hit traffic there regardless.
