Would you still go to the dr??
I got sick on Saturday.. had a fever all weekend. Was and still am super congested.. horrible cough, chest congestion can't breath through my nose at all... i'm going through CASES of tissues...
I made a dr's appointment yesterday for today (there were no openings yesterday and I HAD to go into work). This morning I started coughing up green nasty mucus (sorry I know that's TMI). My question is, now that I'm coughing it up on my own, do I still need to go to the dr? I'm figuring it's an infection because it's green and I might need an antibiotic, but is it maybe clearing up on it's own?
WHat would you do? My insurance STINKS and my co-pay for a sick visit is going to be like $60...

Re: Would you still go to the dr??
Just me, but I probably wouldn't. I had the same thing a few months back, and the doctor prescribed z-pac, and I took a week to fill it because I was busy and it went away by itself. I think he prescribed me the z-pac to shut me up.
I'd give it til say Friday, then go to the doctor if you aren't feeling any better.

Go. My mother had similar symptoms and went to the Dr. on Monday. Turns out she has walking pneumonia
Go to the doctor and I hope you feel better soon.

Re: Would you still go to the dr??
I say go. If you're couging up green stuff that is an infection. You never want an infection to get out of control because God forbid - it could attack your heart.
And if the anti-biotic makes you feel better sooner, why wouldn't you want it?

Re: Would you still go to the dr??
I never go to the doctor (I don't even have a dr. come to think about it) but I would say if you don't feel a little better by tomorrow then go.
ETA: Ok - I changed my mind and just read the scary responses about coughing up nasty green stuff.
Go to the doctor!

Re: Would you still go to the dr??
I would go..worth the $60 to make sure my lungs are clear.
Fix the little problem now..the bigger problem could land you in the hospital.
Sorry to be so dramatic..but it happens..
Take care of yourself!

Re: Would you still go to the dr??
I would go. I had a similar thing about a month ago and I waited - it took me three weeks to get rid of it - and it was severe bronchitis.
Feel better
