Replacing a wall unit A/C....Questions & Need recs

Is this hard to do??? Just put the A/C on yesterday from the previous owners and jeez is it LOUD and I felt like it was shaking the living room and dining room....I am betting that one is NOT enegy efficient.

Also any recomendations for a good one to get????

We bought ours last year at PC Richard. I don't remember which one we bought....sorry! They are heavy, but they aren't hard to put in. My DH & FIL did one of ours last year. If you have at least two men putting it in you should be fine. GL!

And did you have a unit in that spot previously???

Were you able to get the same exact size??

Thanks

Re: Replacing a wall unit A/C....Questions & Need recs

We got ous at Jays in levittown. After having a horrible expernece with PC Richards with my refrigerator, we switched to them and have been very happy. I had to have them take out a very old air conditioner and they were wonderful, they recut the whole in the wall and installed our new one and we have been very happy. So happy we have recommended them to friends and they were happy to, and I sent them a thank you note a few yrs ago- which I have never done before. HTHChat Icon

Bought 2 new A/C units for our place at Mr. Jays
They came and did the whole thing for us, also cutting the sleeve a little larger for 1 unit.

Can't wait to use them!

There was a unit there already and there are so many sizes that they should be able to be exact or come close to exact. Take the measurement of the hole in the wall and the measurement of the AC unit. Even take down the model of the AC unit there already. When we went to PC Richard they tried to come as close and possible. The one we put in last year went in fine. Now we will install the other one this year. Hopefully all goes fine. Chat Icon

Hard to find something that will fit if its an old unit. They might have to break some of the wall up to fit the new sleeve.

This is what I am afraid of...we just redid the walls and the molding around this stupid A/CChat Icon

K--we now have central air in our house, but in our apt. we had LG AC's & they were excellent, very reliable. If the old AC's aren't too old, the new ones should be a perfect fit, but you'll have to replace the sleeve. DH said they aren't very hard to replace, but you do need 2 people.
