Camp Counselors needed

I am looking for camp counselors ages 18-25 for a day camp at the Henry Kaufmann campgrounds in Wheatly Heights/Dix Hills area. If you know someone who would be interested, please FM me ASAP.

I don't know if this is the reason or not, but I'm going to speak from my own experience as being a camp counselor.
For anyone older, married or with children please don't be offended.
I worked as a camp counselor from the time I was 15-20. It was one of the BEST jobs I've ever held. I worked for the town so of course we all got our jobs through connections in the town.
Well anyway, one year, one of the counselors was this mom. She was probably in her early 40's and while you would think this woman would be perfect! She's older, more mature, wiser and she has kids so she's experienced.
Well, not so much. She was probably one of the worst counselors ever. Why? I think, b/c she was older and was a mom. She treated these kids like her own and repremanded them as her own and wouldn't let them do fun things that, well, frankly, maybe a mom wouldn't let her kids do.
The younger counselors were fun. We were like "big brothers and sisters". We played WITH the kids and ate our lunch with them.
It was just a different thing. We were older but not considered "parental" older so the kids did look at us differently. They knew we would repremand them when needed but we weren't their mothers and fathers.
Now I'm not saying that anyone older than 25 or a mom would be a horrible CC and I'm sure this woman was a fluke, but nonetheless, she didn't work out.
So maybe they've found that this age range (18-25) works out the best.
I do miss being a CC though... It was SUCH a fun job.

just to clarify
i would never turn anyone away who was interested regardless of age. that was just the range that the camp director said he needed as he already has a number of adults in supervisory roles. the sr. counselor position is for hands on, not supervisory. so if anyone is interested please,please fm me. and please do not be offended that i gave a range.

interesting. I'd think they'd be open to older people, especially moms. when i was a counselor, there were tons of moms who worked there on barter - in exchange, their kid(s) went to camp for free. I imagine that costs the camp a lot less than actually paying them.
