Just curious...
which districts do you know of on long island, if any, that do NOT require a demo lesson as part of the interview process?

The only time I have heard of skipping that step is if the interview comes up in late August when classes are not in session. I did my demo in a summer school class in early August!
The demo is nothing to fear

thank you for responding! im not actually interviewing.. i just see so many posts about demo lessons - i was wondering if any districts DONT do them. what you said makes sense, that they are skipped if the interview is when classes are not in session... i wonder if any districts dont do them at all though?

My district did not do them in the recent past, but now this year will do them again...I did not have to do anything during my interviews (2 interviews total) except a panel and writing sample, and meeting the superintendents.
ETA: This was in May and I was hired in the beginning of June.

My district did not do one for me. I was hired immediately after the panel interview.... but, the two other girls that were hired at the same time had to do demo's?
I don't know, maybe it was a case by case basis based on your experience or what have you?

Really? What month did you interview? I had two demo's -- one in the middle school and one in the high school -- then again, I was also coming in with ZERO teaching experience...

i interviewd in early May.
then again though, i wasa TA in the district... but it was 4 years prior... so really i was a relative unknown again. i did have a year done in the city though.

DH has 5 years experience and has done demo's for two districts so far (still no LI job though!)
