RE Help
I recently started seeing a doctor from East Coast Fertility. I was pretty pleased with the consultation visit we had however, my husband was not. He felt that the doctor did not explain enough to us and basically left everything up to us. Have any of you used this practice and had a positive experience? thanks

Re: RE Help
Left everything up to you in what sense?
For me, thats something I would want. My Last RE basically said I had not much of A chance without IVF and they really didnt allow me to take any part of the control in my care...my new RE asked what I wanted.
I Know a few girls on here use East caost and have been happy. I was considering when I switched RE's to go there. The only reason I didnt was because of all the Dr's only Dr. Pene excepted my insurance and it made it somewhat difficult.
Is this your first consult with an re? If it is , go on another, bring DH and compare the two. Thats probably the best decision to make you both happy.
Good luck!

Re: RE Help
I saw Dr. Zapantis at the east setauket office. (I get the impression that he is fairly new as is that office). I live in Suffolk and the east setauket office is the easiest for me. I have the HSG scheduled for this week so I will see what happens when we meet with him after that.
He left everything up to us in the sense of making decisions as to what treatment to do. He told us which treatment had the highest percentage to help get us pregnant and then left it up to us. I guess my husband wants this to be an exact science and wants the DR to tell us what to do. I tried to explain to him that it is not an exact science and since everything is voluntary we need to make the decision as to how to proceed but he is having a hard time accepting this entire thing anyway.
thanks for the input!

Re: RE Help
I agree with your DH. The first sign of a good RE, is one that diagnoses you and explains to you the protocols for that diagnosis. I believe a RE should explain how the meds work and why a particular protocol may work well for you.
Your dh is correct. Infertility just like most diseases stem from a cause. There is a science to it. However, I find that the doctors just skim the surface. They categorize patients, then medicate, inseminate and even push IVF and don't always address the underlying issue.

He is new. Try going to the Plainview office for a consult with Dr. Kreiner. I also live closer to the E. Setauket office and go there for blood and sono's. Also Dr. Kreiner is in Setauket on Wednesday nights. He is on vacation this week. This new Dr. took over Dr. Halfen who was the dr. in Steauket and he moved to Floriad I really liked him.
