yup- i made home made jam with the strawberries we picked on saturday. It was waaaayyyy easier than I thought. Just 3 ingredients- strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.

I'm so proud!

Re: I made home made jam this weekend..

It was VERY easy
9 cups of hulled strawberries
4 cups sugar
1/3 cup lemon juice

basically smash strawberries w/ a potato masher and then simmer for 10 minutes.
Then add sugar & lemon juice and simmer for about 20 minutes....

then you have to put them in steralized ball jars. Once full, you need to process the jars by putting them in boiling water for 10 minutes (you can't let the jars touch the bottom).. and then let sit in the hot water for another 5 (turn off the heat)- then that's that!

I am going to go cherry picking the end of this month and make cherry jam!

so excited.

How do you keep the jar from touching the bottom? Do you hold it there?

what I did was I put extra canning rings on the bottom of the pot, and set the jars atop those.
