Cruising to Bermuda, ATMs? US $?
My parents are going on a cruise to Bermuda and my dad asked me if he should get traveler's checks.
As a frequent traveler I almost passed out at the idea of travelers checks in this day and age  
Snobbery aside, they are going to St. George only. Will the shops/restaurants accept US dollars?
If they need local currency, are there ATMs near the port?

I would imagine that they would accept USD. I wouldnt suggest ATM's though. When i was in St Martin I had to go to the ATM and the fee that you get charged is out of this world!!!!

I believe my parents used good old credit cards in Bermuda. Also, just US cash for any taxi rides, small purchases etc.

I was there on the 6th and used US dollars everywhere including the pharmacy.

They are going August 16-23. They are leaving out of Baltimore though, not NY.

I just cruised to Bermuda 5/31 out of Cape Liberty...
I used cash (US dollars) & credit cards everywhere.
...and boy is it $$$. (we were shopping in Hamilton though, I think the shops may be trendier that St. George).

they accept the USD. the bermuda dollar is equal to the us dollar.
