Dress Down Fridays - How does your Office do it?

Word on the street in our office is that they are going to impliment "dress-down Fridays".

I've heard so far they aren't allowing shorts, jeans, tank tops and flip flops. Does this sound about right?

Everyday in my office is dress down day! Hooray! We have no rules, and sometimes I can't believe what people wear. But its an Ad Agency, so its the creative vibe....

We are "business casual" Mon-Thurs and "dress down" on Fri.

Our dress down consists of anything but shorts, tanks/camis, sweatpants, sports jerseys and flip flops - you can wear jeans, sneakers, t-shirts of any kind and sweatshirts though.

we are pretty causal to begin with

on friday we can wear jeans, sneakers, flip flops etc

Jeans, flip flops and a t-shirt with no writing on it. Flip Flop Fridays ROCK!!

Jeans, no sneakers or flip flops. But, people wear them anyway.

Our office never really made the rules official, but we're pretty casual anyway.
We're nto suppsoed to wear jeans during the week, but some people do.

On fridays, most people wear jeans, sneakers, tees. In the summer shorts are ok--the head of the company used to wear short in the summer ( half days Fridays ) but he doesn't work in the office on Fridays any more.

I think flip flops shouldn't be worn in
the office, but people do.

I know of people that are more formal during the week, do more business casual for fridays or summer, and flips, sneakers, etc aren't allowed.

We're business casual. We dress up Mon-Thurs and are allowed to dress down on Fridays unless we're having a guest or something (which almost never happens).

Today I'm wearing jeans (capris are ok too), sneakers (sandals are ok too), a tank top with a button down opened on top of it. Sometimes I'll wear a long sleeve shirt, and in the winter a fleece or hoodie. I stay away from shorts, even on hot summer days since we have AC and I won't wear halters or strapless shirts, some ladies do but I don't find it appropriate for work.

My office is VERY laxed. You can pretty much where anything you want. I personally don't get as casual, but it's not uncommon for people to wear flip flops, shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, even hats.

I wear jeans with a casual yet not a t-shirt top and work shoes I would normally wear Mon-Thurs.

I would NEVER wear flip flops to work, not even the "dressy" kind. it's just not my thing.

we were business casual up until a few months ago, now we can wear jeans anyday of the week... we just have to be presentable w/ the denim. Not ripped or frayed, no tanks or flip flops.

We don't have casual fridays, which i understand because clients can come in at any time.

However, we sort of have unofficial casual fridays and so far we get away with jeans on fridays

my office is biz casual m - thursday but most people even then seem to be only a teeny tiny notch above dress down fridays.

to me, dress down fridays always just meant jeans (that was the norm at my last job and the place i was at for 4 1/2 years you could wear jeans everyday so long as there weren't clients coming in.) Now, I notice on fridays that people are in jeans, t-shirts, flip flops and/or sneakers. now that i've been there a month, i suppose i'll follow everyone's lead but what i've been doing is jeans, a nice sweater and heels of some sort.

i've also noticed that on the days when the head of the office says 'smart dress' (i work for an english company), most people are in what i would think is biz casual. again, this is probably b/c of my warped perception of everything from my last job though and my pyscho boss....

my office doesn't have a dress down policy, but one emplyee began wearing jeans with a nice shirt on fridays and the whole office kinda followed suite. I usually wear a top that i would normally wear and a nice pair of jeans wither heals. others wear sneakers but i don't, but thats just because i don't wear sneakers often

My office is pretty casual to begin with, but Friday is Jeans day, they just started this a couple of months ago. When the decree was handed down it said if it something you would wear to do yard work or go to the beach it would not be office appropriate.

i wear pretty much what i want to wear on fridays-and now in the summer too

its too hot to walk from the subway to my job in hot black pants-also waiting for the subway on the platform-u could pass out

so i wear capris, skirts, etc and flip flops

this is what we were told:



FRIDAY’S ONLY
blue jeans are acceptable as long as they are not frayed or torn.
Blue jean clothing (jackets, shirts etc.) will be allowed on Fridays only.

T-Shirts with logos, skirts (above knee length), bare midriffs/halter tops, rubber flip-flops and sneakers are unacceptable all the time.

The way it worked in my previous company was M-Thurs suits and business attire was mandatory. On Fridays it was business casual. True Business casual is a step below Suit and Tie. Dress down would mean to me sport shirt and khakis. Where I work now is come as you are...flip flops, shorts, tanks, etc. (unless a client is coming and then we're in dress down mode)

old office the poilicy was geared to men -as in golf shirts allowed - no jeans or sneakers


new office- jeans allowed on fridays- other than that, the people around here dress like slobs every day so the jeans are a step up for them some days
