Thank yous for student gifts

How do you do this? Do you wait to do them til school is out and mail them to the kids? Or do you hand them out to the kids before school is out?

I'm guessing I can't hand them out since I'm a specialist...they may never make it home with them.

Just curious as to what you do....I'm mailing out mine today!

Since every year, I get a class gift that is 'no more than $5' , I do them the weekend before school ends so that I can give them to the kids before school ends. Also, if I get any gifts the last day, I still have time to write a quick P.S., thank you also for...

I get my class gift a day or 2 before school ends but I get most of the individual gifts the last day of school. So, I have to write them out at home and mail them after school ends.

you guys are better than me....

if i get a gift the last day of school, i thank the child but leave it at that, unless i have a parent e-mail where i might jot them a line to say thanks.

for the holidays i always write thank you notes, but the end of the year is just harder to do.

I always send thank you notes home - holidays, last day, sometimes a student would give a gift when college application season was over. I think it's important to acknowledge all gifts to students and show them that thank you notes are important and common courtesy.

I keep a box of thank you cards in my desk so I just write a quick thank you a give it to them at the end of the day.

I always send them home in the mail. Usually a few weeks after school is out.
