Dog kennel?
I must come to the realization that I will HAVE TO go on vacation WITHOUT my 2 dogs and I cannot wait for them to pass away either.
They are 2 years old and honestly, I don't know how they will do in a kennel.
I am scared they will be traumatized. Both in different ways.
I need to find a kennel. A VERY GOOD ONE that really will love and take care of my dogs. I have to admit I have no faith in any of them. I fear my dogs will be in a crate all day, will be neglected or left on their own to protect themself from other dogs.
I need a good recommendation.
TIA

Re: Dog kennel?
Where are you and what size are your dogs? I know of a lady in suffolk that takes small dogs, and they live in her home with her. I never used her but I think she seems amazing! I will post the info if you have small dogs.
I know how hard this is. I feel the same way as you.

Yes, they are small dogs. One is about 20 Lbs. They other one 22-24Lbs.
I am in Nassau but don't mind traveling if I find the perfect place.

Re: Dog kennel?
hi, i know how you must feel about kenneling your dogs.. i hate doing it as well, but we have no choice..
i take my Lab to Levittown Animal Hospital... i am IN LOVE with them!! the whole staff is incredible, and they take such good care of my dog. they let her out of the crate as often as they can.. they even keep her up at the front desk with the girls too!! its so wonderful to know that!! when i go back to kennel them they are always so happy to see my dog!!
i highly recomend them, i wouldnt feel comfortable with anyone else!
good luck!

Re: Dog kennel?
I know how you feel - we hate leaving our pup in a kennel, so normally my parents or my in-laws will take him. We live in NJ now, but had to kennel our pup over our honeymoon on LI. Cozy Noses came highly recommended from our friends on LI, and our pup seemed very happy there.

we used this place when we boarded Murray for our honeymoon. They were voted on news 12 as the best doggie kennel on LI. We paid extra money a day so Murray could have outdoor time , they have a little play area. He came home with a picture of him playing at "cozy noses day camp"
But the reality is, most of the day they are in a kennel. But at least they will be safe and well taken care of. You can go to Cozy Noses for a tour.

Re: Dog kennel?
Ok, I checked the Cozy Noses webpage and I looked through all their pages but couldn't find their address anywhere. Maybe it's just me? I found their hours of operation and thier phone number which is 631(so def suffolk) but not an actual address. I also didn't see any menu of rates.
I was just curious. It's always good to know of a couple places in case you have to put them in boarding. Normally I get one of my family members to watch my dogs...
But when I was working more, I would put them in doggie day care at petsmart in Huntington a couple times a week. The place always looked very clean, and the kennel area is behind a glass window and visible to the public. The people where nice, and my dogs never seemed to mind going there... although they where always happy to see me at the end of the day. LOL. It's funny when they bring them both up at the same time. I always feel bad for the person... my guys aren't little!
