Can Anyone Help Me?

I'm a semi-regular poster, but for obvious reasons am under a different name.

Past financial issues have come back to haunt me. I have been working to correct my credit score, yet I now have a judgement placed against my account because of a past debt. Because of my credit history, I can't seem to get a loan by myself...does anyone know of a bank that can do a loan for not so good credit? I'm determined to get this all resolved. I just want the debt to be gone and to have one payment.

Can Someone Help Me Before I Lose My Mind??

Re: Can Anyone Help Me?

I think you would need to speak to a credit counselor.

I don't have more info since I've never been in this position but you could probably do some searches.

Good luck!

I am not a professional in this matter, but instead of taking out additional credit, have you looked into additional ways to make $$? A second job, selling things on the side, etc?

Either way - best of luck to you. I understand your financial struggles right now Chat Icon

Re: Can Anyone Help Me?

your other option - which is a decision not to be taken lightly - is to file Chapter 13.

This will not help your credit score in the short term but will help you feel less stressed.

I would only suggest looking at this after you explored all your other options.

Re: Can Anyone Help Me?

Was the judgement that was placed there done per the terms of the FCRA and FDCPA? (Fair Credit Reporting Act & Fair Debt Collection Practices Act?)

Did you have a debt collector coming after you? Do you still have copies of all the letters they sent you? How "legit" is the debt?

Even if the debt is very legit, if the debt collector did not follow the law in regards to marking your credit report with a judgement, you can sue them under FDCPA.

If you sue the debt collector and win, you can be awarded a judgement to have them remove any derogatory information off your credit report. This will turn your scores around bigtime.

Let me know if you need help.

I agree. I would not take another line of credit out...that will just lower your score, besides the interest you may have to pay if you get a loan will only hurt you financially if you don't have good credit. I would consolidate the credit or work w/ a credit couselor to lower your interest rates and consolidate everything to one bill. I used Ameridebt years ago (not sure if they are in business anymore), but I was debt free within a year. What also helped was, at the time, I worked 2 jobs. It was tough, but after a few months I was able to quit the 2nd job. I would try to go that route. Too much open credit can actually negatively impact your credit score.
