Rash & I'm nervous

I started taking cephalexin last Tuesday for a upper respitory infection. Well today I noticed a rash on my legs and I asked my RE if it could be related to the antibiotic and he said that most likely it would be all over my body. Well tonight I come home and took another pill and now I'm starting to get the rash on my stomach. I looked at the side effects and a serious side effect says rash & swelling (my area is swollen where the red bumps are).

I have a call into my GP but I'm very nervous. Has this happened to anyone? Should I be concerned?

i just posted something similar that is happening to my daughter on the parenting board.
She is taking amoxil for strep- she took her second dose tonight and i dont know if its from the meds or the strep.
Call your DR first thing and have them change the meds

Thanks for your post. I'm just nervous if I'm having this kind of reaction what is this medicine doing to the baby. Unbelievable.

I also have a repiratory infection - the Doctor prescribed Biaxin. I wonder if it is similar to Cephalexin, I better check.

I'm sure you are just sensitive to it. Try not to worry.

I was told by my doctor that a rash is NOT an allergic reaction when it occurs from an antibiotic. She said that some medications just have that affect on people. I would call the doc though.

Called the doc and he said that I should stop taking the meds. He said if it doesn't go away by Wednesday they will give me a topical. He said it isn't hurting the baby...I sure hope he is right.
