Question about acne medicine

This is kind of a dumb question but when I was in my teens I took an acne medicine called accutane. If you have never heard of it, it is very potent as in you are suppose to be on birth control when you take it becuase if you got pregnant it would mess up a baby really badly. Well, I was wondering do any of you know if there is a chance that it could mess up conceiving later on. I took it like 6 years ago and I didn't know if it could have a long term affect on someone like that. If any one knows that would be great. Thanks!!!!

No you are fine - it is well out of your system. You would only have a problem if you are currently taking it or just finished taking it. My friend was on this and this is what her doctor told her.

Well, I have done some research on the web and lawsuits are being brought up against the makers of accutane because of all the problems in can cause even after you stop taking it. So now, I'm really worried. And I mean these aren't just little problems they are big problems, like chron's disease, hair loss, thyroid problems, heart palpatations and many more. I'm freakin out!!!

I would ask your doctor but my understanding is that you should be ok if you stopped 6 years ago -

I was on Accutane in 1995 or 1996 and the doctor said not to get pregnant "while you were taking it" because it causes birth defects (but it was never my understanding it prevented conception).

Granted, it's 10 years later and I am having trouble conceiving, but I doubt it's from the drug.
