This move makes no sense to me. He is going to a team that has just about zero chance of making it to the SB and he is just going to retire again at the end of this year.

I'm not saying they'll be superbowl contenders this season, but certainly the playoffs aren't out of the question.

Heck, if the Giants could get to the superbowl and win, the Jets can get to the playoffs.

One teams success has nothing to do with any others. Dont forget the Jets still have to play NE 2x, Buffalo 2x and Miami 2x. All of those teams are better than they were last year as well. I predict the Jets will be no better than 7-9...and although Favre has never missed a game in a crazy number of years it could happen this year, keep in mind he is on the cover of Madden 2009 for all video game systems and that carries the Madden curse with it.

i would love to "retire" from my job and then insist 4 months after the fact that i be allowed to come back to the same position i was in when i left Chat Icon

sorry i have no sympathy for him Chat Icon

He was still under contract so regardless of retiring if he was reinstated (which he was) he had a job. It was part of the negotiated contract.

He wasn't insisting to come back to the same position either. He would have gladly played for the Vikings but Green Bay wouldn't allow him to. He wanted out but they wouldn't let him chose his own destiny.

And FTR, you can EASILY retire from your job and decide to go back. You may be at the mercy of the company you left (just as Brett Favre was) but you could go back doing the same thing you did before you left.

Heck, I work with a woman here who retired and 4 months later came back to the very same job. This has actually happened at two different jobs I've held so it's not that uncommon.

I think they'll go at least 8-8 this year. At least.

I think the Jets can take Miami... and well, as for the Pats - I say they have a 50/50 chance.

Whether or not Favre starts every game... I don't see why not. Curse and all.

2. He now has to learn a new offensive system after being with the Packers for so long

I think it will be more like the Jets having to learn Favre's offensive style as opposed to him learning theirs. JMHO as a Superbowl Champion Giants fan.Chat Icon

in other words, coles and cotchery have to learn how to actually CATCH the ball, now that they have a guy that can throw Chat Icon

exactly!Chat Icon

Laveranues Coles can catch. The problem has been that his QB floats the ball leaving him in no mans land and subject to getting laid out.

Now that someone will be there who can actually THROW the ball, we'll get to see what he can do.

About Coles, this is the truth. The guy can catch and Cotchery can catch too, they just haven't have the QB with the throwing arm to do it..now they do...and way the hell down the field now too!

let's just see how it plays out

i'm not getting sucked in

Is there ever an in between with NY teams? We either love you or hate you.

I see this being no different than any other trade.

Yes, of course none of us are mind readers here and so we don't know exactly how this will pan out. But just looking at the statistics, Favre is a better QB than Pennington.

The only thing CP has going for him vs. BF is his age. Which in this case I think it's negligable.

Re: Brett Favre is Now a Jet.

agreed Favre is better than Pennington - fine - if you look at it from JUST that standpoint, it's a great move

But the 2 parties (Favre and the Jet offense) have to align

think of the Packers and Favre like peanut butter and chocolate - great combo

Whether or not the Jets and Favre can make the same combo remains to be seen.

Hopefully, we won't be a peanut butter and sardine combo Chat Icon

Re: Brett Favre is Now a Jet.

I'm not a Jet fan but I am a Favre fan....I think it's a good move only because Favre is a better QB than Pennington. I don't think the Jets will definitely be playoff contenders because of this trade.

I do think it's an AWESOME marketing move. The Jets will have no problem selling those PSL's now and Jet merchandise (specifically Favre jerseys ) are going to be THE hottest items in NY.

NOOOOOO... I could cry for Chad. I just met him last week and he is the nicest guy!! I just feel so sad. And Brett never wanted the Jets. Chad loved them. I realize his arm just isn't there. But at training camp it honestly looked a lot better. He really worked hard in the off season and I thought he should be given a chance!

He better win!!!! Maybe that will make me feel better.

I wonder where Chad will go!

ITA with you. Chad is now a miami dolphin.
