difficult co worker
I work in a department of five people. We work very closely together. One person in the department is a constant drama starter. She's always talking about someone else, flips out if she is not in the immediate loop. While I respect her professionally, working with her makes me ill. She is very manipulative and moody. One day she will be nice and the next a raging lunatic. I am always walking on eggshells around her. She also always seems to see herself as a victim. I have considered quitting my job over this. Any suggestions on how to handle her. Thank you.

Re: difficult co worker
This is tough. Do your other co-workers feel the same way? Perhaps you can sit down w/ her and talk to her about the situation. About how her temperment may be hindering your dept's progress. Maybe you don't even have to be that blatent about it, maybe you could ask her how she feels about working in the dept with you guys. Maybe she starts drama/has an attitude because she is unhappy and would like to switch depts or jobs as much as you'd like her too.
Is someone else that you work with close to her that can talk to her if you don't feel appropriate doing it?
Maybe a manager you can ask for advice...

Re: difficult co worker
I have someone similar that I deal with at work.
My new tactic is to only deal with her for work related items & be professional. I don't ask about her weekend or her life any longer because frankly, I don't care & don't want a personal relationship with her.
I'll let you know how it goes.
