do shallots go bad?
its pathetic that i barely know what a shallot is... but, my question is this- i bought a little box of them a few months ago, and theyve been sitting in the fridge ever since.
i found a recipe that calls for shallots. can i use what ive got, or should i just not make that dish? (notice how going out to buy fresh ones is not an option- LOL)
sheesh- NOW do you see why my name is "anonymous user"? you all probably think im an idiot- hahaa

Re: do shallots go bad?
They last for a long time, but they can go bad after a while, kind of like onions.
I'd peel one and cut into it. If you notice that any of it is getting brown and icky, then don't use 'em. If they look and smell like an onion, they're probably ok.
