UPDATED w/press release of NEW NYPD contract
DH just called me and said they may have settled the next NYPD contract....16% over 4 years of course starting from 2006 since the last contract only settled 2004 - 2005. If it's true...it's not too bad
UPDATE
All I have to say is it is about damn time

Re: Anyone hear about the new NYPD contract?
i heard that the new contract could get settled soon--cause Kelly wants to make sure that the NYPD is up to date on their contract when he leaves and tries for a run as Mayor. hence why he's working on getting this done now.
if its settled soon -- the next retro could come around March 09.

I know!!! I just hope there are no givebacks!
But if they decide to do 0 & 0 for 2006 and 2007 there won't be any retro

Would the PBA really agree to 0 & 0? I don't think they would. I would be surprised if they really settled so quickly, just b/c Ray Kelly wants it settled doesn't mean Paddy Lynch & the PBA will settle so quickly..they don't care about Kelly's agenda...from everything that is published, they aren't big fans of Kelly...I can also say that from listening to the guys that work with DH.
We'll see!

Re: Anyone hear about the new NYPD contract?
Knowing Bloomberg there will be givebacks, especially with the budget being what it is. But if Kelly stands up to him (which Randi Weingarten couldn't/wouldn't do) maybe it will be ok. Teachers got a decent raise last contract, but we gave up a lot.
ETA- I forgot that the NYPD has Lynch as their head- so it won't just be Kelly who has a say.

Re: Anyone hear about the new NYPD contract?
chances are the sacrifices will be for the to-be-hired also....like with the last contract and the vacation cut.

Re: Anyone hear about the new NYPD contract?
I have to ask DH if he heard anything...It seems a little too soon considering we just got his retro check 2 weeks ago. And I agree that I doubt the PBA would settle for 0 & 0.
Ray Kelly for mayor, huh?!

Teachers had zero givebacks with the last contract. Two contracts ago we gave up three vacation days and agreed to a C6. I think Randi Weingarten is an excellent union president.

My exact response to DH...retro is considered a four letter word in our household...plus as nice as DH thought his retro check would be...they taxed the shhhit out of it...either way money is money

Re: UPDATED w/press release of NEW NYPD contract
It's still too damn low considering what NY cops have to deal with....and what others are making (ie Suffolk, Nassau).
That said - at least it's moving in the right direction. Congrats!

I know! When I saw what he was supposed to get and then what he took home, I was disgusted. And no matter what you get back for your tax refund, it will never be that!

I stand corrected- though that one was pushed through way too fast. I don't want to hijack with my other thoughts on RW and the other ways she's sold us out.
