23 Months Old "hitting themselves"

My DS just started this a few days ago..when he gets mad or does not get his way he will hit himself in the face. I am sure he is doing it for attention, not sure if I should make a big deal of it or just kinda let it go?
Anyone elses DC doing/done anything like this?

I can relate...my 14 month old, DD thinks its hysterical to hit herself on the head. She does this & laughs. I try to ignore it--yet I don't think she's hitting herself hard enough to hurt herself.

I ignore it, she does it for attention. My dd is 17 months old and she does this when frustrated

DD is almost 18 months and she does this sometimes. Usually if she hits me and I tell her "no", she will start hitting herself and laugh. I try to ignore it or give a gentle reminder not to do that.

I think that is also why he does it when he gets frustrated or does not get his way, so I think I will just remind him its not nice to hit himself and leave it at that!

Bella did that, I think it's normal and they do it for the response.

It was just a phase for us, but I know how disconcerting it can be
