Cost to refinish wood floor

Hello-

I've been reading these boards for a while, but this is my first post. These boards have been very helpful...thank you.

To my question--
My husband and I are in contract for a coop in Brooklyn. In my ideal world, I'd love to refinish the floors. Can anyone tell me how much they've paid per square foot to have their floors refinished? I plan on getting estimates, but I'd love to have a starting point.

I believe I paid around $2 a sq ft

I actually have no clue what it worked out to per sq ft.
But I know the going rate according to friends was $3-5/sq ft. Depending on how many coats of stain or poly you have done.
