Spinoff: NKOTB

Ok, so Im prepared to get ripped a new one on this, but I don't care.

Am I alone and thinking standing online for hours to see a band that peaked 20 years ago is strange? I mean I loved them just like everyone else when I was 12 But now at 33 I find it a bit odd, that grown married ladies would be swooning over them. I mean haven't they lost their appeal? I think Im alone on this, but I really hope not.

This is not meant to offend anyone who IS standing online for hours, just my own personal view if the whole "madness".

see for me it is all nostalgia and getting a "re-do" For something I couldn't do as a kid. My mom was a single mom of 4 kids and concerts were not in our budget. I used to sit outside of Jones beach and listen to them! So I never saw them. She was also really strict and I wasn't standing at hotels waiting for them.

So Now I get to, as an adult, give myself something that I coudn't as a kid. And it will be a great girls night out!!! It is more fun than anything!!!

No ripping anyone a new one!!

hink its also that when we were all into NKOTB we were all too young to do this stuff...now we can lol so if i go sleep deprived for 1 night...i can deal lol i have never strayed i am a true die hard fan lol since i was 7 i have never been without a nkotb tape or cd in my radio lol im a huge geek and i know it!!

I LOVED THEM. Had the pins, and photos and had it all!!

Now...um, not so much.

Honestly I have to change the channel when they come on, like on the View this am, because Im too embarassed for them to watch.

Sure they are laughing all the way to the bank, but I just cannot understand the allure. I mean, they are doing boy band dance steps? at that age? It looks silly? I thought it was just me.

Me, I dont care, when they started I was young when they ended i was young, my parents didnt allow nor did they have the time to do all of these things with me. So I am doing it now. Am I excited for the tour...yep, will I be screaming like a 13 year old...yep. I dont care if they got back together for teh $ or anything else for that matter, I am enjoying something I could only enjoy to a point years ago that now I can enjoy fully.

I liked them then...followed all their careers after FTM, and still am a fan. I like most of the songs on the new album...not all but most.

I really dont see the difference between swooning over them and Bono..or Richie Sambora...or Brad Pitt, George Clooney (Obviously actors) etc. etc. Just b/c they are a pop band doesnt make them any different then them. Or older woman swooning over the pop stars who are barely 21...not really much of a difference in my eyes.

Not ripping anyone, i can definitely see how to some it would be silly since there are things I find silly that other people love/obsess over or get crazy for.

I can see where you are coming from. But...in SOME respects...this is no different for a lot of the fans as it would have been for let's say - the Beatles fans if they had gotten back together after 14 years.

I feel the way a lot of others feel..

I think its just about "what was."

I mean...this was our childhood for many of us. I had buttons and pillowcases and stuff but couldnt go to any concerts...now I am hoping I get the chance to so I could experience it.

I dont think they are good anymore..I dont think their dance moves are even remotely special..but they are THE NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK!

I feel embarrassed for them a bit too to be honest..but my fave has ALWAYS been Donnie and to me, he hasnt changed much.

I dont know...it just makes me feel young..and now that I am a mom..I find it amazing that my 2 year old is dancing in the kitchen to step by step (they sang it on the view today) with her mother singing like a lunatic. Just about nostalgia here too.

I loved them years ago. Did the whole nine.

But now, not so much.

I was excited to see them on the Today show a few months ago. I watched it with DD and told her all about her crazy mommy back in the day. (she had no interest, btw)

Plus, I met Joey Joe a few years ago after a play in Boston. So, I got my fix.

It is all a matter of personal preference. I love NKOTB and in the 90s HAVE stood in freezing weather for hours to see them. I never got the appeal of Backstreet Boys or N'Sync but never tried to figure out why many other people did. To each his own. Some people sleep outside to see the new Harry Potter or Star Wars movie. It has nothing to do with age or motherhood. I personally have met NKOTB many times and would love to go today but just cannot make it. But my friends and I did buy VIP packages to 2 of their shows and we will see them then. Many people here were younger when NKOTB were at their peak and never got to meet them then. So, you can't just say it is strange. It is just not your preference.

i loved them and am excited to go to the concert. However I am not going to the CD signing tonight, that I feel I am a bit too old for. I am 28
