Re: Chancellor visit
I had that several years ago when I worked in the city. It was very scripted and teachers were notified in advance if he was stopping into their rooms. I was teaching special education at the time, and I never saw him. Good luck!

Re: Chancellor visit
Good luck! Nothing like having more stress than needed on the first day back. The rest of the year should be a breeze !

Re: Chancellor visit
That stinks! But you might be better off having him come on the first day than on a day later in the year closer to testing. The first day tends to be less rigid than others. (Just trying to point out a bring side ) I hope the visit goes really well and he doesn't come back!

Re: Chancellor visit
Well, if it makes you feel any better, I was setting up my desk last week (in gym shorts and a frayed t-shirt) when the superintendents, board members, etc. walked right in. And sure, everyone smiled and said "hi!", but I was like... is there any space under this desk so I can crawl under? Like... I really don't CARE, but ... really? I have to see all of them BEFORE school starts looking like THAT? Fun...

Ask him what he thinks of the new parking pass.

Re: Chancellor visit
Good luck! Shouldn't be too bad - kids are always quiet and nervous on the first day, and any "not perfect" moment can be easily chalked up to first day rustiness. He can't find anything to pick on - it's probably just a photo op for him.
(just so you know, I used to teach at one of the worst schools in NYC and "visitors" always scheduled visits there - and they canceled with no notice at least a quarter of the time. So maybe you'll get lucky.)
