UPDATE! still no AF after coming off the pill...
I know its only been a month and a half since coming off the pill...but I'm starting to worry...what if I dont get it for months?? Before starting BCP 6 years ago, AF was always extremely consistant. I kind of feel broken. I know this is somewhat normal, but what if another month or two go by and still nothing??
I'm new to all this so correct me if im wrong. If I'm not getting AF, then I'm not ovulating, right? So, even if DH and I BD all day everyday, I cant get pregnant, correct?? This is so frustrating! We were really hoping to be pregnant by the holidays (I know you cant ever PLAN that kind of thing) but I feel like we dont even have a shot at it right now. I've never wanted to get AF so badly in my life
UPDATE:
Yay!!!! Tonight I started getting pretty bad cramps and right before bed AF showed up!!! I literally have no been this excited about getting AF ever (except once when I was 18 and thought I accidently got pg)
So, my cycle was 44 days long and I know its almost impossible to predict when I'm ovulating next, so I guess this month we're just going to BD a lot and see. Anyone want to take a guess at when I might want to use the OPK after AF is over? I'm hoping that will help to figure things out a little better.

i wish i could give you some form of an answer...but i'm not sure.. I don't know if you can ovulate if you don't get AF.
i know some women it takes MONTHS after coming off of the pill to get AF...so i'm truly sorry..

here's one thing i found:
The term Ovulation refers to the process that occurs whenever a mature egg gets released from the ovary of a woman. This egg is pushed down the fallopian tube, and then becomes available to be fertilized by sperms. During ovulation, the lining of the uterus gets thickened so as to prepare for a fertilized egg. How ever, If no conception occurs, that is when the egg does not get fertilized by a sperm, the uterine lining will be shed. Along with the uterine line, some blood is shed too. This is the blood you see during your period. The shedding of an egg that has not been fertilized and the shedding of the uterine wall what is referred to as menstruation.
There fore, if you have not yet gotten your period, that does not mean that you will not ovulate. You will ovulate before your period comes. In fact there is not really an established connection between the two. Ovulation can occur even if you are not menstruating and you can even get your period even if you have not ovulated. If there has to be a connection, then your period will come after you ovulate and not the other way around. You ovulate before you get your period instead of getting your period before ovulating.

Jess -- thanks so much for this info. It makes me feel alittle better knowing that at least if I dont get AF maybe I'm still ovulating.
This is going to sound so naive...i KNEW it could take several months to get AF after coming off the pill. I just didnt think it would take ME that long. I guess I figured since my cycles were so regular before that I'd fall right back into it.

right - we NEVER EVER like to think that we'll be that one person that has the issues. I'm not saying that in a mean way - but if you had asked me 6 months ago if i wouldn't be pregnant yet - i would've told you that you were crazy.
i'm so sorry that your body is messing with you. It's no fun...but at least you have support here!!

I know what you mean. Not with the BC because I wasn't on that before TTC, but with thinking, wishing, hoping that it wouldn't happen to ME. I was hoping I wouldn't be "average" and take an "average" amount of time to conceive. I soooooo wanted it to happen the first month. It happened for two of my friends the first month and another friend the second month. I thought, "why not me?" Now I realize that this is NOT the norm. But it still hurt when it didn't happen the first or second month. Here's hoping for the third! I hope AF comes for you soon and you are able to start the TTC process!

It took me 75 days to get the first AF after bcp. It was very frustrating and stressful but I knew it could take a while to get it. My body just had to adjust and regulate itself
Then it took 64 days, 42, 41, and then I got my BFP!
When it took so long to get it the first time I did see my GYN and they did all the necessary blood work. She told me to wait a few months. It could take up to a year to regulate. Oh, and I did do the temping so I would know when i was going to ovulate.

i am not TTC again yet...but i did come off the pill in the end of june for other reasons. i got my period in the end of july and since then, i have not gotten it again. It has been 46 days and i am starting to get nervous as prior to getting pregnant with my DS, i had irregular and long cycles. I am hoping to not go back to that too

it took 4 months for me to get my first period after coming off the pill. it stinks, but just try to be patient, your body is getting itself ready to possibly be pregnant. give it some time.

I'll POAS just to be sure, but I doubt I am.
I've been having symptoms of getting AF (cramping, brownish discharge, bloated, sore boobs) but I just havent gotten it in almost 2 months. Maybe this week..

I would probably grab a few packs of OPKs and start on CD 10. You probably won't ovulate until much later in your cycle, but when you don't know your cycle length, it's recommended that you start on CD 10.

my cycle was 60 days when i went off bcp then it went down to 45 days and then i got pg!
