My BIL and niece have both been sick for the past week with a virus that sounds like what you are describing.

two weeks ago I had a fever and stomachache, Mon-Wed of this week DH was hit HARD with a stomach bug then Wed my mom was complaining of having stomach/bathroom issues
I def think some kind of virus is out there
