What to do with Ham steaks?
I never made them becuase I was bought up in a Kosher style home, but I love ham and will have it in a sandwich, but saw ham steaks in the store and wonder what to I do with it? Do I flavor it? Pan fry? grill? any ideas would be helpful. It looks like an easy dinner. My aunt suggested canned pineapples and raisins in the the pan and simmering.... TIA!

Re: What to do with Ham steaks?
I usually just do it in a frying pan....it's super easy and quick! You can get the ones that are already flavored (like honey ham)....we don't do it all the time, and some brands are better than others, but they're definitely good for a quick dinner!

We also do the pan fry; sometimes we'll put a dab of maple syrup in the pan to give it a little sugary taste.
It's a quick meal; we'll make it with a veggie and couscous or maybe a baked knish.

Re: What to do with Ham steaks?
Breakfast for dinner: you can make eggs and toast and just fry it in a pan
Grill for a bit to get the sear, then Splash some teryiaki sauce over the top and finish.
Make some pineapple and marachino cherry kebobs and grill them. Serve with grilled Ham Steak

You can eat them British Style...broil them, and serve with chips (fries) fried eggs, and baked beans.
Have heart attack tomorrow.

Re: What to do with Ham steaks?
i like ham but i dont care for the steal. how about making a split pea soup? ham steaks make it easy to chop
i also like the idea of pineapple and ham skewers on the bbq
or
adding it to an omlette
if you like ham, buy a "Cooks Butt Portion" and follow the oven directions, ITs SO good.

Re: What to do with Ham steaks?
Ok first I trim of ALLL the fat around the meat, edges etc. Put them in a casserole dish with just a TINY bit of water on the bottom. Next mix up About 2 cups brown sugar, Just a little bit of yellow mustard and enough water so its like a gravy thickenss. Poor on Hamsteaks and bake at 350 for about 20 minutes. SO yummy

Re: What to do with Ham steaks?
I cook it in the microwave or in a pan.
In a medium pot, I simmer some butter (about 1/2 a stick), nutmeg, cinnamon, and some brown sugar (maybe about 1/4 cup), with a little water and 2 - 3 granny smith apples sliced. Cover and simmer for about 15 - 20 minutes or until the apples are soft.
Pour the stewed apples and sauce over the ham steak.
Makes for a great autumn dinner!
