Zoey Joelle is here!!! 8/15/08

After a very smooth induction, Zoey Joelle arrived on 8/15/08 at 3:09 p.m.

Here is the timeline. On 8/14 we decided with Dr. Hanauer to induce on 8/15 (our 16th wedding anniversary!) for a few reasons, the most important of which being she would definitely deliver.

8:45 a.m: arrive at Winthrop

9:30: settled in with Pat our L& D nurse & Pitocin started, IV anti-bitoics started (GBS +)-3cm dilated

11:29 a.m: The other Dr. Dolisis who was on at the hospital (who I now also love) broke my water.

I don't really even count up until this time as labor as I felt absolutely no different than I had any day up until then, even with the Pitocin.

12:15 p.m: I asked for the Epidural as I wanted to have it in before the contractions became too much. Epidural took less than 10 minutes and barely hurt at all. I had the head of Obstetrical Anesthesiology administer it. Oh and I got really itchy but felt no pain.

AHHHHHHHH was all I could say at least for a while, sweet relief!

12:46p.m: 4cm dilated now & catheter inserted since I couldn't get out of bed to pee now.

1:01 p.m: 5 cm dilated

During all this time, Zoey's heartebeat kept dropping and they thought she was hitting her cord so they kept moving me around.

1:16 I ended up with an amnio infusion which helped.

2:00 6-7 cm

2:40 8 cm

At this point my Dr. Dolisi said I am 9cm with a contraction so he calls Dr. Hanauer to come from the office and tells me I will be ready to push in about 15 minutes!!

At this point my contractions were pretty intense and though I hadn't taken Lamaze in 12 year, the breathing came right back and soon I felt the telltale need to poop!

At 2:59,I look up & see Dr. Hanauer and she says almost!

3:01 10 cm!!!! Pusing begins!

3:09 after 3 sets of pushes, out she comes, cord wrappe around neck & feet!!! That explains the dropping heartbeat. I had a small tear and after a brief minute of disorientation! I held my cutie in my arms! The nurses in the hospital were all great. My first night I had my room to myself but the next afternoon, they brought in another woman who immediately fell asleep & started SNORING like a buzz saw! I ended up changing rooms because I am a VERY light sleeper & there was no way I could have slept through that!

She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20 inches long. She has a little light brown fuzz & blue eyes!

Big sis & bro & mom & dad are all thrilled!!!

Delivering at Winthrop was really a great experience. All the nurses on 2 North were great and the baby & I were very well taken care of.

Thanks! Nursing is not going well (direct opposite of my lat baby) and she still has not regained her birth weight. I am nursing/pumping/supplementing. My priority now is fattening her up and not being obsessed over where she gets her milk from.
