Those that make their own pizza, please help!

I got store bought, refrigerated pizza dough to make some individual pizzas. (About 8" round) ON the package it said to make it all at once and put it in the oven for 20 minutes.

DISASTER!!!!! My dough isn't fully cooked and my cheese is fully burnt! Chat Icon

Any advice? Should I cook the dough for 10 minutes, then add sauce and cheese? I'm making it on a pizza stone, if that matters at all. TIA!!!!!!!

This is what we usually do (every friday night!) I buy a pizza dough from the local pizzeria and cut it in half to get two pizzas from it (if it is from the grocery store refrig I only make one pizza since it is a smaller dough). I make one pizza on a round pizza pan and one on a cookie sheet. Put a drizzle of olive oil down on the cookie sheet and then spread the dough out as thin as I can. Top it with sauce/cheese/herbs/turkey pepperoni and bake at 425 for about 20-25 mins switching the top and bottom ones halfway through and we like the top well done, (but bot burnt!)

So I would bake yours closer to the bottom rack for about half the time and then closer to the top rack the rest of the time and make the cheese nice and crusty! Good Luck! We love homemade pizza, so much better than storebought.

I always cook dough solo at first, let it harden up, then add sauce and cheese.

also, any toppings, I put those on aluminum foil and throw them into oven seperate as well, esp. veggies. dry them out a little.

I always spread a little EVVO on the dough and cook first, before adding the sauce and cheese and cooking it again!

I make homemade pizza alot, & i usually spread out the dough on a oil grease pan & then let it sit for 10-15 min & then re stretch it again.. I then cook it @ 375 for 10 min , bump it up to 400 & then the lst few 425, that way it wont burn,, HTH
