Can someone please tell me why...
It bugs me to no end when MIL calls Lucas "my baby"?
"How is my baby?"
"I miss my baby so much."
He's not your baby, he's MINE!!!
I don't know why, but it just urks me.

You are not alone. Except, my MIL says "grandma's girl." How's grandma's girl?? Over and over every time we see her.
But, it is an improvment from "gamma" which is what she used to say.

UGH!!!!
My mother does the same thing!! She always asks me how her baby is - and I tell her to ask my brother, since HE'S her baby, not Lily!!!
She got annoyed that I was calling her Crazy Grandma though, so everytime she says "my baby", I pull out the "Crazy Grandma".

Probably for the same reasons it bothers me when my MIL refers to my daughters as "Her Girls" ex. I would like you to meet my girls.  Uh, I think they are MY f'n girls. (Can you sense the hostility?)

That is so... funny because Dh and I had DD#1 calling my MIL, crazy grandma for about 2 years until she had a hysterical breakdown and DH mad me stop it.

This annoys me too! It started while I was pregnant! I couldn't believe my ears! One day she told me, "I think my baby wants you to have more steak." SO WEIRD!

Yeah, maybe when she asks how "my baby" is, I will tell her that DH is just fine!!! Since he IS her baby!

It drives me nuts too. My MIL always does that. It even bothers DH. When she asks how her baby is he always says 'I'm doing well, thanks for asking' If he's not around I answer 'He's at work.'

My MIL always says do you know who I am. Mind you Jake sees her almost every day. Makes a clicking noise that sounds like you are going on a horse.
But one of my DH Aunt's always thinks that when my DS is cranky or upset always says he wants me and grabs Jake out of my arms. But I actually said to her that no he wants his mama (me) and said to her that she raised her DD and he is mine to enjoy and raise and comfort. Okay enough venting.

I'm possibly the odd man out here.
My mom used to always say "How's my little man?" or "There's my boy!"
And it never - not once bothered me. It kind of made me feel really proud that she loved them so much that she appropriated them! And they kind of were hers... I mean they were her grandbabies!
But I never had a control issue from her. She basically deferred to me and followed my lead on what I felt was the right way to raise my kids - and I knew who was running the show ... my sons.
