Your favorite Yankee Stadium/Shea moments
See how nice I am to include the Mets fans?
Anyway, let's see how many we can list that we were actually in attendance for.
ALDS vs. the A's in 2001....Game 5. Yanks accomplished what had never been done before....down 0-2, lost the first two at home, only to come back and win it all!! I was there for that game- Justice's homer and Jeter's first big catch in the stands (falling backwards into the seats).
Roger Clemens 300th win...I hate the guy but it was awesome. I especially loved that Mo came in to record the save.
Jeter's first and only Grand Slam. His 2,000 hit as well.
Melky's amazing catch in June 2006 vs the Red Sox...what a phenomenal game, winning 2-1.
Johnny Damon going 6 for 6 against the Royals this year (the one bright spot of the season).
Two games I must shamefully admit I left early - missed Giambi's walk off Grand Slam in the rain vs. the Twins (me and DH's first game together that went into about 13 innings and it was freezing cold and raining so we left) and A-Rod's walk off grand slam vs Baltimore last year (it was sooooo cold in the bleachers - I was LIVID that we left).
And the kicker of ALL kickers.....we have tickets to every Saturday game - we booked our wedding for Saturday August 4th. Lo and behold, we had to miss a game for our wedding. What did we miss? A-Rod's 500th homer!!!!
So....let's have fun sharing our favorite memories!

Re: Your favorite Yankee Stadium/Shea moments
mighty sporty of you to include the Met fans - I have some fond and not so fond memories of Shea Satdium
1. my first game was in July of 1985 vs. the Braves - I just remember it because it was my first MLB game
2. There was a game in 1989 that I went to, forget the date, but it featured a famous brawl between Tim Teufel and Rob Dibble. Of course, my parents and I left early to beat the traffic
3. Opening Days - 1993 and 1994 - my buddies and I went to HS in Queens and cut last period to catch the train to Shea for opening day
4. This is sort of a Yankee Stadium memory that applies to the Mets. I was at the very first regular season interleague game played at Yankee Satdium. I believe it was 1996 or 1997. Dave Malicki shut the Yanks out 6-0
5. Countless interleague Met-Yankee games at Shea. Two in particular I'll never forget - the first was the World Series, 2000, Game 5. Yanks win the Series. Not a great memory, and I was heckled by some Yankee fans, which almost caused me to be arrested. The second was in 2001 - where we were in the upper deck and the Bleacher Creatures (we knew it was them because they had a sign) - started with us, and one thing led to another, and they ended up getting thrown out
6. Countless fireworks nights. Two in particular I will never forget. The first was one where we were losing 16-0 in the 3rd inning and everyone stayed for the fireworks. We did everything up there but watch the game
The second was a year later. Losing 8-2 with 2 outs in the 8th. We go on a spree to tie the game, then Piazza hits a 3-run shot to win it for us.
7. Game 6 NLCS - 2006 vs. the Cards
So may I have likely forgotten.

Re: Your favorite Yankee Stadium/Shea moments
Yankee Stadium:
1) Jim Abott's no hitter.
2) Jason Giambi's 14th inning Grand Slam in 2002 in the pouring rain. Landed 5 seats away from me so I am on TV every time they show it. WOO HOO.

OMG COOL about the Giambi GS....we were SUPPOSED to be there! We were one of the many fans that left! That's so cool that you can see yourself!!
And wow....you were at Abbott's no-hitter- that is phenomenal!!!
