At my company, yes, it is considered legal. Their server and equipment, they are entitled.

Just for the record if they have a policy that they can monitor electronic communication that means anything that goes through their server - the means personal email, work email, facebook, IMs, etc.

Oh man I didnt know that. I thought that they wouldnt be able to check any of the personal stuff due to restrictions on those sites. Do you know if that means that your passwords are recorded in your work server? Thanks for the info!
