Election

Is anyone doing anything on the election with their 1st grade classes? I think it's important for all kids and am wondering how I can do this as an added "extra" with the young kids. I just got the VOTE Scholastic issue for October and it has a book that I've not read yet -- Otto for President -- and it says to use it with the fun, Duck for President....

thoughts? would you use the real candidates? How are you handling this current event with your primary classes?

I will be. I ordered some books through scholastic, so we'll see which ones I'll use. I think we will do an attribute chart or maybe a pro/con chart of the candidates (haven't decided real or fake) and we'll def. vote. But the kids don't come to school on election day so we'll do it the day before.
