YES!!! This JUST happened last month to a friend of ours. She was having weird feelings in her back and shortness of breath. She went to the hospital and it was because of BC. She never used them before this year. They were able to catch it and she is okay.
The Dr. actually said if she came in 1 hour later, she wouldnt' have made it.
It is SO scary.

Not exactly true. The young woman was actually taking Yasmin. Here is an article from Snopes.

My friend was because of BC and not the other stuff just so everyone knows.

Blood clots have always been a risk factor of birth control pills.
If you have a history of stroke or any blood clotting disorder in your family, you really should not be on hormonal birth control.
When my father had a stroke at age 57, I stopped taking BCP's the next day... I just threw them out and never again.
The risk can multiply on those new pills and as you get older.

As the PP said, the risk of blood clots with birth control pills has been known for a very long time. There are some people for whom taking continuous birth control pills has benefits that outweigh the risks. Smokers have to be more careful with the pill, too.

Love the website too but note that it doesn't disprove the warning on BC, just clarifies which one she was using.
A former co-worker had a stroke in her early 20s. Her left side was completely effected. Her doctor told her it was a result from BCPs & that she should have never been put on them as she was had high risk factors. She told me a lot more bloodwork should be done before putting someone on BCP but often it's overlooked.
