2nd time moms-kids visiting in hospital

Are you going to have your children visit you at the hospital? I cannot imagine not seeing my daughter for 4 days. She is 2 1/2. Will it be too hard for her? She is very attached to me. Or is it going to be harder for me. I have asked others and they told me not to have her come. I am so torn. TIA

My Mom is going to take Andrew for the week and she will def be bringing him up with her. I can't see him not being there. It is a must that he be there.

Absolutely! As soon as it's reasonably possible depending on what time the baby was born I'll want her to be there.

My parents kept DS1 during the day while I was in the hospital, and would bring him every day during visiting hours. I think it's better for them to know where you are than to just question, where's mommy? for days. He liked to come too, if was fun for him.

Thanks, that was what I wanted to do, but a lot of people told me it was too emotional. I want her to share in all the excitement also. I just do not want her to be hysterical when she has to leave.

both of my kids will be coming to visit me, dd will be 8 DS will be 18 months. its going to kill me to be away from them, especially the little one- we havent been away for a night yet.

Most of my friends/family have had their DH or another family member bring the older brother/sister up to visit for an hour or so at a time. -

I don't know why people would say NOT to ........this is YOUR other child, it's not some random, snotting, germy kid breathing all over your newborn - it's their big brother/sister !!

That being said, I hate when 'other' people insist on visiting the hospital and bringing their small children so stick their germy hands and faces all over the newborn baby !

My son is def. going to be there...I also want him in the waiting room, so he is there when my husband comes out to announce what the baby is (he will only be 18 months, so its more for us). We are going to get him a couple of gifts--things to do in the waiting room, and in the hospital room--I dont expect him to be up there all day, but I def. want to see him, and have him meet his bro/sis.

I am going to bring up the laptop as well, so he can watch some of his movies, just in case.

When I had my DD my mom was supose to bring my DS up and she didnt.It made me very upset not to seeing him and he was upset not seeing me needless to say I was mad at my mom as well for not bringing him..So this time around my DS is 4 and DD will be 2 and They will be up there as much as possible my best friend and MIL are making sure of it.I am never away from my kids for a night soo being there for that long its too hard for all of us. Plus I want them to meet there sister as soon as possible..

ABSOLUTELY!! my mom will have DD and she will bring her with her everytime she comes to visit me. i cant imagine her not being there and not seeing her for a few days. NO WAY!!

my son will be coming every day. he'll be 23 months then and is extremely attached...as am i.

Michael will be staying with DH when I have #2. So when DH comes up everyday, that is when DS will be coming up. He will 2 1/2 when #2 is born.

I definately will have DS there- My SIL is going to watch him the day of my c-section, until siblings can visit and then he will be at the hospital as often and as long as he can (even though I'm sure it will be tough) ...DS is very attached to me ( and vise-versa ) so the thought of not seeing him for 3 whole days and not tucking him in at night is going to be tough on me...DH will also be with him when I'm in the hospital, so not having DH there as often as the 1st time around (we got a private room and he slept with me) is also going to be hard, but my DS needs his daddy to put him to bed and wake up to in the morning,,,We are going to try to have my SIL and MIL plan some funs things to do with him when DH & I are at the hospital though (in between sibling visiting hours) !

My parents are watching Jared while I'm the hospital. He has school the day I'm going in for the c/s and I still want him to go. He can visit me afterwards. I don't know how I'm going to do it...we are attached...

I will defiantly have to see my dd... I cant imagine a day going by without seeing that face.. It would be wayy to hard for me... but in reality all depends on the weather and her health. Im due in feb... so if its bad weather rather she was home safe and if shes got a cold.. just better for the baby even tho the baby will be near her probable a day later.. it just makes more sense to remain home comfy and safe.

im actually considering having my DS in the room with us...
hes gonna be over 10 by then..
he is my best friend in this PLANET, he is mature, and sentimental, and has already expressed a desire to be the first one after mommy and DH to hold the baby after she comes out..

the only thing im nervous about is, if he freaks out, its another thing ill have on my mind..
my best friend is also going to be there, so i do have a few people to take him out if things get crazy..

i feel like it could be the most INCREDIBLE thing he EVER sees in his life
