How does this happen????
I teach in NYC so the marking period is over next week. So tonight I printed out the missing assignments for each of my students off of gradekeeper so they can see what they need to make up. I also included their GPAs so far.
How is it that 90% of my 1&2 9th graders passed (all english classes are double periods) and 90% of my 5&6 period failed
I just don't get it....same curriculum, same teaching style......they are just so lazy! Their missing work reports were ridiculous compared to the morning class. They behavior is so much worse too! It is a smaller class too so you'd think I'd have more control but they really drive me crazy. ALso their abilities (reading levels) are pretty much the same in both classes so it must be me!!!!

Re: How does this happen????
It's all about the mix of kids in the classes! I have the same issue with two of my classes as well. Yay scheduling!

I've had similar situations in the past. It's just the mix of kids and their ability levels. You do what you can...don't let it bother you!

Re: How does this happen????
is the second group after lunch?? I always found my morning classes to be way more productive. After lunch, forget it!
