Wow, not vegatable at all? I am not a big fan of salad either, but I liked cooked vegetables.

A good easy way to cut back on calories is to watch what you drink.

Fancy coffe drinks, alcohol, sodas, all that adds up.

Whole grains (whole wheat, barley, quinoa, brown rice), beans, ....and the more natural the product, the more likely it is to be good for you. So stay away from processed foods (kraft fake cheese, for example), anything that lists sugar as one of the top 3 ingredients. Stick with lean meats and really try veggies -- steam some broccoli, spinach or green beans then sautee in olive oil with a little garlic....you really need 4-5 veggies per day, so important. And eat fruit - don't drink it. OJ has tons of calories, but if you eat an orange you get a lot more vitamins and a lot less calories.

Re: need some pointers...

I know you don't want to hear this, but to eat healthy, you really need to eat some vegetables. You should have at least 5-7 servings of fruits and veggies a day, and at least 2 servings of dairy products. I agree with what the other posters said too. It is best to try to eat whole grains and brown rice instead of white flour and rice. Use nonfat or lowfat dairy products and stay away from the processed and fast foods.

I know what to do, it's actually doing it that is the challenge.......

i agree
you cannot be healthy without eating a well-rounded diet that includes fruits and veggies. They are an acquired taste and you are going to have to acquire them- no amount of staying away from carbs will help you- you can't live on just protein and whole grains.
