How long does the Seller have to sign the contract?
Hi, I've never posted on here and I had a question regarding contract signing. My husband and I and in the middle of purchasing our first home and we are at the point of signing contracts. We already have an accepted offer and contracts were drawn up and signed by us. The sellers have yet to sign the contracts and this is been about 3 weeks ago. One of the sellers is in Norway and this has been the hold up. What I want to know is do they have a specific amount of time in where they have to sign the contract and send it back or can this take forever? We want to go ahead with getting the mortgage and we haven't been able to because of this. Thanks to anyone that answers this.

I am not sure of an exact time frame, does the contract state any time frame that both parties have to sign by?? I would definitly start putting pressure on them after 3 weeks. Especially since legally they can still show the house to other people and sell it to someone else.

Thank you so much for replying. I will have to check the contract when I get home to see if there is any time frame. I don't know if they are stalling to see if they get a better offer but this is getting very frustrating.

Re: How long does the Seller have to sign the contract?
There isn't a time frame in which the seller must sign by...this is unfortunate, because they can still show the house to other potential buyers...I would ask your lawyer to put a bit of pressure on their lawyer...
