Am approximately 6 weeks...
and went to the Dr. the other day because over the weekend I was experiencing some VERY minor spotting (only when I wiped). Both myself and the Dr. feel it was due to intercourse, because other than that I was having no spotting. But just to be on the safe side, she had me come in and examined me and did a Trans-vaginal ultrasound. Well, the Dr. told me that the sono tech was able to see the sac but was not able to see anything in it. She said this can be because it is too early to tell. However, I am still freaked out! Is this okay at this point, should I be worried? That is why I posted about finding a great OB earlier. Even though I have heard could things about this Dr., I felt she did not explain anything to me and I walked out of her office feeling worse than what I was originally going in for. Any insight? Sorry for the long post! Thanks so much, Kristen

Re: Am approximately 6 weeks...
I'm in the same boat as you right now. I went for an U/S last Friday (they thought I was around 6 weeks at the time) and all they could see was the gestational sac--no yolk, no heartbeat. They said the same thing to me, that it may be too early to actually see anything. Stay positive. It seems like this is actually more common than you may think. (I've done a lot of research on it this past week) Did you make an appt for another U/S in about a week or two??

Re: Am approximately 6 weeks...
okay - as i LITERALLY went through this - JUST this week....
What makes you think you are 6 weeks? Is that what the doc said? (there is no wrong answer to this, just want to try and understand the whole story)..
End story with what happened to me...
We went to for our weekly u/s & bloodwork with the RE on Sunday. They see the sac and NOTHING in it...the Dr. asks if i'd had cramping/bleeding and scares the ever lovin' heck out of us both..(dave was with me). He tells us to come back 3 days later (today) and we'll see then what to do.
Fast forward three TERRIBLE days...and we went this morning. What a difference those days have made...we SAW and HEARD the hearbeat.
They originally had me at 6 weeks, 6 days today and now i'm only 6 weeks, 1 day...
A few days can make a HUGE difference....so TRY (it's almost impossible, i know) to relax...and let's figure this out!

Re: Am approximately 6 weeks...
I saw the doctor on Monday when they did the ultrasound and bloodwork. I am scheduled to go back for follow-up bloodwork tomorrow morning and the another u/s on Monday (even though that still may be early, no)? I agree, stay positive and I hope all works out for you. This has me so upset, all I can do is pray that this turns out okay!

Again though - where are you getting the 6 week date from? Your last menstrual period?
The bloodwork is a good thing - it will tell you that your numbers are doubling and you are alright...
The u/s - that may be the perfect amount of days for you to see something! I never thought that 3 days would be huge - but WOW - BIG difference!

Re: Am approximately 6 weeks...
Thank you soooo much davenjess! I certainly hope that my story turns out as well as yours has!! I am thinking I am around 6 weeks judging by the first day of my last period. I know this can vary, so I am not sure what to think! When I went the Dr. actually never said how far along I was. So....... Stayed tuned all and pray that my sono on Monday turns out with a happy ending!

Just try and relax till then (i know, easier said than done). Stress plays a big part in all of this. I'm sure you and your baby are going to be fine.

Re: Am approximately 6 weeks...
I'm another one who was in the same boat as you. I went to the OB when I was 6w1d. They also saw the sac but nothing in it. I was devastated after having a MC last year. The doc told me to come back in 5 days to recheck the sono. Well when I went back there it was. A little baby!! We could see the heart beating, but couldn't hear it yet. The sono picked it up at 140bpm and the doc said all was fine. In fact, he said that I didn't have to come back for 6 weeks -- I guess to get me on the schedule for every 4 weeks. So my next appt. is in Nov. and I will be 12 weeks then. I couldn't believe that just a few days would make such a difference, but it def. did.
I hope this helps you.
