I dont know what to do or what to think
Long story short.......I fell right on my knee about 4 months ago, My DR sent me to get xrays and they came back normal. I called the DR a month after and asked if she can send me to get an MRI because my knee was still in pain, She said no, the MRI isnt necessary and she said its probably still bruised on the inside.
Okay, who am I to second guess her right?
Well 2 months go by and the pain is worse, i cant really bend it or walk up stairs.........I call a orthopedic and get an apprt to see him. They do Xrays and an MRI. Nothing showed on the XRAYS but the MRI he said shows I have a lateral tear in my meniscus and tells me I need surgery.
I didnt really like him so I wanted a 2nd opinion.
I go today to another DR who is a specialist and show him the MRI that I had done........
Well, he said based on the MRI he doesnt see anything at all wrong with my knee. So i said, hmmm thats wierd, How can you explain the pain then and the fact that I cant bend it. He said its probably a sprain. So I said, after 4 months wouldnt it get better and not start to feel worse? He siad I should go to physcial therapy 3X a week for 6 weeks.
***?!?!?!!?!?
What would you do? Do I go to a 3rd DR to see what they say?

well, first of all - GOOD FOR YOU for sticking up for yourself, and getting the second opinion, really!
What I would do now honestly, because of the VAST difference in diagnosis', would be to get into a 'sports medicine' doctor...and get their two cents...

Maybe you can go to one more doctor... but someone that is recommended by a friend, coworker, family member? How can one doctor say you have a torn meniscus and one say nothing is wrong? 
If the 3rd doctor says nothing is wrong i'd recommend maybe looking into acupuncture. I'm looking into it now (not for an injury) and have only heard positive things about it so far.

i would go see another doc for the fact that the 2nd doc said he saw something ... try and find someone that comes recommended.. i have one here in brooklyn that my husband uses that i can recommend but i don't know if u would want to travel

who are these doctors?
I would go to one more who is a sports medicine doctor. These doctors are uniquely qualified. They see everything. You could even find one that specializes in knees.
The hospital for special surgery in NYC may be a good place to start.

I totally agree.. since the last 2 doctors are saying opposite things.. see at least one more to be sure. Don't let them try to convince you to ignore the pain either... you know your body, if it hurts there's definitely SOMETHING wrong.
