Coxsackie advice

I brought my DS to the doctor on Friday who said he had bronchitis, possibly pneumonia. I had a follow up appt. with the doctor today who said his lungs were clear but now had two canker sores and it was coxsackie. I looked into his mouth and I can only see one "sore" it is a pea size bulge in his gum line. It is not red, but kinda whitish. He's been eating and drinking fine. I'm not sure if I think it's coxsackie.

Could he be cutting a molar (he's 11 months)?

If it was coxsackie, wouldn't he not be eating and drinking?

It's hard because since he's had the upper respiratory conditions, he's had a low grade fever now for five days now.

If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

2 of my boys just got over coxsakie virus..
spencer started having high fevers 105 that i couldn't break with motrin so we took him to the ER on a sunday. he had the blisters in his mouth. he wasn't eating or drinking anything and had a terrible cough and sore throat. it lasted about a week although the high fevers only lasted a couple of days.

my oldest Colin had a low grade fever, ate and drank everything but broke out into the coxsakie rash all over his face and neck..
it's a virus so its funny. you can have a very mild case and still have it. It's great that he's still drinking and eating!! : ) HTH

we had a coxsackie diagnosis last month and his only symptoms were a fever for only 1 day and a sore in the back of his throat. Other than that my son was fine. Kept eating and drinking. I proclaimed it the mildest case of coxsackie ever and thanked my lucky stars because I know how brutal it could have been.

I'm still not 100% convinced it was coxsackie but the ped. did show me the sores and they did do a strep culture that came back negative so I guess they diagnosed on process of elimination. I still don't buy it. He didin't have any cold symptoms either which I'm not sure would normally accompany anyway.

In your case I'm not sure. 11 months is early for molars in some kids unless yours started getting teeth early. The ped can usually distinguish teething versus a sore, you know? And the fever you say is low grade? How high does it get? Because the fever is generally pretty high. SOunds like he has a few things going on at once so I can totally see why it's so confusing to distinguish. Any other rash on his body?

DD had Coxsackie a month or so ago. She was VERY irritable, had a high temp (104+) and wouldn't eat or drink for several days. I never was able to look in her mouth for sores, but her ped did and said there were a lot of sores down her throat. Had to let it run it's course.

ETA: DD had a fever for several days, it did decrease slowly over the course of a few days, but it was high for several days.

DD had coxsackie - she refused to eat and was running a high temp. She also had no energy and was visably in pain from the sores in her throat
