I'm not sure if this would work, but... as part of his Confirmation project my son worked with St. Peter's Peanut Butter & Jelly gang making PBJ for the homeless. It really had a profound effect on him. Maybe you can work with them somehow?

i agree... i don't have any specific suggestions, but i think something where they actually get to meet some of the people they are helping would really hit home more for them...

My school does something with the VA Hospital in Northport. They put together carepackages to go overseas and I think they also have a list of things the patients there need.
