Does anyone take the medicine Lamictal?
my DH just started it this week. he had brain surgery a few years ago and has been on anti-seizure medicine. the docs changed him to lamictal hoping that it will solve the problems that he is currenlty having. just wanted to get some feedback from someone on it.

Re: Does anyone take the medicine Lamictal?
My husband is transitioning to Lamictal from Tegretol now. He hasn't had any adverse reactions, except that he thinks his appetite has increased. He's also been tired lately, but I think that could be attributed to the fact that he is on his anti-seizure meds plus his heart medication.
I know the big fear is of developing a rash and that usually they start you slow to monitor for that to develop (if it does).
Good luck and FM with any specific questions.

My brother was on it. I don't remember any adverse reations for him. He was on it for a while and then taken off once the docs were convinced he didn't need it for seizures anymore.

thank you for your replies
we were told about the rashes, so we are looking out for that. although the docs said it now happens less to 2% of patients. he is starting it very slowly, won't be on his full dose for 12 weeks!

He wasn't taken off lamictal, he is being taken off of tegretol because when he had a 48 hour EEG it showed that he had a seizure while sleeping on tegretol. So, the doctor switched him from tegretol to lamictal to prevent the seizures. HTH
