Need dog food suggestions
When we get Murray, they were feeding him Pedigree puppy at the shelter. We kept him on this for the first month as to not upset his tummy.
After a month, we switched to wellness as I wanted to feed a higher quality food. But it seems not to sit well with him. Its been 6 weeks and we can't get up to the goal amount of food without him having loose stools.
So, we're running out of wellness and I'm thinking of changing again.
In the running- Nutro ultra puppy, Eagle pack, canidae.
I'm looking for suggestions, experiences etc.
Also, murray is 4.5 months, about 15lbs. Expected to be approx. 30 lbs

Re: Need dog food suggestions
one pup is on purina one and will stay on that for some time b/c she is still little...........the other came to us on eukanuba lamb and rice ( we now have him on adult lamb and rice).....but we did try to switch him to wellness and it didn't agree w/ him either....i think it was tooo heavy for him.....so we went back to euk. puppy and started slowly switching to the same flavor-just euk. adult...and it worked perfectly!! we may still try to switch the euk. flavor or try nutro.....

Re: Need dog food suggestions
Eukanuba--my vet is a huge fan of their line of food. I feed my dog the sensitive skin formula and it works great. We've tried so many and finally found one that works..

Maddie was loose on Wellness too. She's now eating Science Diet Lamb & Rice because it was the only non-poultry LARGE sized kibble we could find and she's doing very well on it.

Re: Need dog food suggestions
We use Nutro because it is all natural, easy on Casey's stomach and cheaper than a lot of the other brands.

We've liked both Canidae and Innova Evo. Love the Evo in particular, but it's hard to find sometimes.

You are giving him dry food right? We give katie Science Diet Oral Health. We've given her Science Diet Small Bites too.

Re: Need dog food suggestions
Buddy is on wellness, it takes a while for dogs to get use to new food, especially wellness. Buddy had loose stool too but now hes fine.
If you're planning on switching I would ask your vet, they can recommend a good brand of dog food for you pup. good luck!

Re: Need dog food suggestions
We feed our dog Purina One chicken & rice formula. She was on Dog Chow but had some allergy issues with that along with some others. Purina One seems to be the best one for her.
good luck.

Re: Need dog food suggestions
My dog is back on Iams.
We had her on Purina Chicken and Rice but she started reacting to it. Then we transitioned to Natural Blends, and it got even worse. She even had a couple accidents in the house. So, now we are back to Iams and all is good.

Re: Need dog food suggestions
my vet recommended ProPlan to me when my dog was having digestive problems, (aka bad gas). turns out the dog has soy problems and there is no soy in ProPlan.
Works for me.
