Just FYI....

(Making my own thread to stop highjacking the other thread).

JUST because I am being quoted by almost every poster is NOT going to make me change my mind.

I ALREADY said what I had to say. Just read what I said on the thread.

I don't go and quote EVERY poster who I don't agree with neither do I question them to death so they swing me way.

I am NOT going to respond to everyone who is quoting whatever I posted. This is nuts!

Carry on!

I know. And I am OK with my opinions. Yet, I feel like it's free for all when one person does not agree. You are constently being questioned.

This is not the first time this is happening in threads. Not talking about me particularly.

I know some people have told me that that's why they stop posting. They feel they can't go against the grain. Whatever the topic is. They feel like they are being targeted and quoted constently.

Re: Just FYI....

As an oustider (ie. new to LIF) it didn't seem like anyone was attacking you. They were just asking you questions....

A very valid one - if you consider marriage religious - how do you view the marriages of people who got married civilly?

Do you think they're not valid?

You have to admit - aside from being conflicted it just doesn't make sense. If you believe that a heterosexual couple being married civilly is OK, why not a homosexual couple?

edit for confusion

Don't answer that you're conflicted either - it's a yes or no question. If you answered no, well then, that goes against what you say.

Honestly, with the way you worded this, it seems confrontational. You can ask whatever you want but I do not think it is fair to tell someone how to respond. JMHO, of course

JMHO - lol.

You're absolutely right - it comes out better in conversation...

I have to agree here.
It does seem rather aggressive.

I don't agree with you, but I respect your opnions because they're your's, and they're valid, and you're allowed to think differently than me. And you presented yourself in an intelligent manner.
And it doesn't hurt that your son is adorable!

I did say that marriage was between a man and a woman. I am not sure what isn't clear about what I said.

Nevermind then - I thought you said marriage was a religious sacrament. So I was asking how you felt about those who get married civilly.

Most people will not agree with me on that topic. And that's OK. I also know some who agree with me will not post because they don't think it's worth it. And that's OK too. I don't need "reenforcement" to say what I feel.

Yes I said that. But also said it is my belief it is between a man and a woman. What I did not say... because now I have to say every detail to make my reasoning "true".....Regardless of what religion or not religion it is between a man and a woman.

Re: Just FYI....

I must admit, I felt like I was the one being attacked for asking a question about your opinion. I was trying to understand your point and was hoping that you would explain how it applied to a different case. I was disappointed that you refused to answer my question, as I was in no way attacking you.

ETS: I was the one who asked her opinion on civil marriages between a man and woman.

Your opinion is your opinion. Like I said in the other post you were bringing intelligent feedback from the other side. I dont think you have to prove your reasoning to anyone bc that is how you feel. If you want to share your reasonings behind it then that is fine but dont feel like you have to or are being attacked. OK - again - I wasn't attacking you. I didn't see that in your post.

I feel like I put your back against the wall and I'm sorry for that.

Defend what you believe in anyhow - don't get upset when people question your beliefs.

edit b/c I'm not telling you to defend what you believe in.... just in general saying 'good for you', NOT telling you what to do... I love LIF. Chat Icon

Re: Just FYI....

I didnt think anyone was attacking, I did see a question asked many times that you didnt answer.

Basically, your belief is a relgious one, not a legal one. And I dont understand how someone who has a certain relgious view cannot agree though that the government cannot and should not agree.

Make sense?

IMO we cannot have relgion of any kind interfere.

I respect your personal relgious beliefs 100%, but I dont see how that arguement plays a place in the issue of government?

TO me its as much as saying that next the government can make BC illegal b/c its not moral...etc?

Not sure if you even wanted any more opinions and if not, Im sorry.
