after D&C ?

I keep reading about people going back to get levels checked or told to take home pregnancy tests.

With both my m/c's (different practices) I was never rechecked for blood or told to take hpt.


I'm just wondering If I was the only one ? I find it odd.

When I had my chemical last month the doc wanted to make sure that it wasn't ectopic, so he had me go back to make sure that my beta had dropped back down to zero.

When I had my d&c back in June I didn't have to go back for any tests afterwards though either...

I had a d&C on oct 17 and saw dr 2.5 wks later to see how i healed. He did the usual urine tests while i was there which happened to still be +. So he drew blood to check levels. He then gave me a test to take again a week later to see if still positive.

i called the next day and levels were at 30. Took the hpt a wekk later (yesterday as matter of fact) and still +. So he wants to draw blood again to check levels.

Dont know the reason for all this. I assume just to have a history

I wasn't rechecked. I had an exam 3 weeks later and they said if I was still bleeding they would have done a blood test.

My blood wasn't tested but I did have a sono b/c I bled for almost 3 weeks. I almost had to have another d&c b/c there was tissue left over. I ended up passing it on my own.

I had two post ops after the D&C and they took my blood then. I never got results back from it but my guess is they were checking the levels.

not unusual.....I was NOT told to check anything with HPT, and I didn't.

3 weeks after my D&C, I went for my follow up appt. where they tested my levels (urine only; no blood) and everything was back to normal.

Don't you have to go back for a follow up appt. to make sure everything healed? At that time, they usually check levels.

heres my take on it.
When i naturally mc the first time i went into the dr's office durring it,they took blood, and they took blood 3 days later and said the number dropped and i didnt need to go back.

2 months later, got pregnant again. had a dnc. Doctor said while nothing was confirmed abnormal there was unusually extra tissue. I had to go for bloodwork EVERY TWO WEEKS, until my levels went to 0.

with a d&c, at least you know they are going in there to get everything, if it were natural then i would demand the bloodwork
