Could the teachers on here help me?

I used to be a teaching assistant for college Statistics. The prof and I worked well together. Now I got switched this year for Intro to Psychology with a new prof. But the old prof recommended me to one of his students for tutoring. I was so honored, since he recommended me over his current TAs.

Anyways, since there is only 1 month left to the semester, I think I have time to tutor her. But what rate should I ask for? If she were one of my own students I would never charge her. But since I do not teach stats anymore, I really am more of a private tutor.

What hourly rate do you think is appropriate? I've never done this before.

Thanks!

You could probably ask the department secretary if they have an idea of what other tutors charge.

I think the price also depends on where you live. MIL has a friend who used to tutor high school kids in Westchester, NY for like $60 an hour and when he retired from teaching and moved to Florida he couldn't get people to use him for $20 an hour.

It depends on the level and the school in terms of demographics (Is it a striuggling student paying for it, or are mommy and daddy sending a check from Westport?)
I charged $65/hour for college level math tutoring several years ago.
