Re: i feel at a loss

Hey there. It's only normal to feel this way. I'm so sorry. Chat Icon

Most OB's won't refer to an RE unless you are under 35 and TTC for over a year or over 35 and trying for over 6 months.

You're ob can start running some tests on you if you aren't ready to see an RE yet. Your ob can make sure you're ovulating and can do a sperm analysis of your husband. If you feel you want to see an RE, I would just go to one so long as your insurance doesn't require a referral. Also, make sure your insurance doesn't have any requirements before you go to an RE.

Don't give up hope.

Re: i feel at a loss

thanks girls..
i know about the full year thing.. then seeing the RE.. but i read in a bunch of places that if you had a 2nd tri loss.. and trying for 6 months.. you can see a RE earlier.. i guess i have to see what the OB says..

but at least if the OB does some tests too , at least thats a start

I'm so sorry! It will happen! It's so hard to feel that way sometimes, I know.

I would wait while, "take the holidays off" so to speak, enjoy them, and then see how you feel about it. Go with your gut instinct. Even though I was 38 at the time, my ob told me to wait 6-9 months, there was no way. I waited 4 months and then saw the RE.

There are plenty of girls on the IF board who would recommend their RE to you when and if you are ready, even if you just want the consult to see what they say.

Re: i feel at a loss

Just be sure to be your own advocate and go with your gut. If you don't think your ob is doing enough, go see an RE. Just make sure your insurance is ok with it. I didn't wait the full year. I lied. I knew something was wrong and unfortunatley, I was right. I'm just glad I didn't waste anymore time. Chat Icon

Re: i feel at a loss

I think you should try to see the RE anyway. We haven't been trying a year (it happened very fast for us as well the first time). Since it was ectopic, they were willing to see us earlier.

If you have been trying for this long, and feel this desparate, then YES, seeing an RE is the next step!

Re: i feel at a loss

I would make an appointment with an RE, especially if you don't need a referral for your insurance company. It can't hurt and it may give you some peace of mind to get some tests run.

I just made an appointment with an RE myself and didn't need a referral from my OB. I actually insisted on it given my situation (2 recent miscarriages and my age - 36). I just know I want to make sure everything is okay. I know I can't prevent a m/c, but at least they can run a series of tests and make sure that everything is working properly.

I am so sorry you are going through this Chat Icon . Make the appointment now (since it probably takes awhile) and talk to your OB again in the meantime. FM me if you want the name, address, etc. of my RE. I hope everything works out for you and lots of babydust of course Chat Icon Chat Icon .
