Big Three auto CEOs flew private jets to ask for taxpayer money
(CNN) -- Some lawmakers lashed out at the CEOs of the Big Three auto companies Wednesday for flying private jets to Washington to request taxpayer bailout money.
"There is a delicious irony in seeing private luxury jets flying into Washington, D.C., and people coming off of them with tin cups in their hand, saying that they're going to be trimming down and streamlining their businesses," Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-New York, told the chief executive officers of Ford, Chrysler and General Motors at a hearing of the House Financial Services Committee.
"It's almost like seeing a guy show up at the soup kitchen in high hat and tuxedo. It kind of makes you a little bit suspicious."
He added, "couldn't you all have downgraded to first class or jet-pooled or something to get here? It would have at least sent a message that you do get it."

Re: Big Three auto CEOs flew private jets to ask for taxpayer money
it reminds me of living in Boulder CO
hippies would ask you for money to get food for their dog
then they would hop into a range rover
you get really angry watching them drive (or in this case fly) off

Actually, it's probably a good thing they rode private jets.
Because their azzes would have been stomped if they rode on a regular flight!

Re: Big Three auto CEOs flew private jets to ask for taxpayer money
I read that article and was like
This is just sooo typically hypocritical! How on EARTH are we supposed to hand you billions of dollars in bailout money when you CLEARLY have your priorities messed up and can't show a LITTLE bit of fiscal restraint??? And then I love how they act like they didn't do anything wrong? It's the same as anyone who lives beyond their means.
It's the same isses I had during the election...Practice what you preach, don't be a hypocrite...These are the guys who got millions in bonus and clearly mismanaged their companies. It makes me angry and I don't want to see people lose jobs and entire industries go under, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

the article said it's in their contracts that they have to
but they could have taken 1 jet - and split it

I'm sure it also says at least somewhere in their contracts (perhaps in the fine print ) that they should NOT RUN THEIR COMPANIES INTO THE GROUND and then ask the tax payers to bail them out.
contracts MY ASSS.
I am so sick of this. I am so sick of corporate america it makes my blood boil (NOT an easy task)
eff them eff them eff them AND the private jet they rode in on.

they could have paid for it out of their pockets.

IMO, the best thing for them to do is declare bankruptcy protection. that will enable them to re-build their company - WITHOUT the union bullshyte. that is one of the reasons why they're in this mess to begin with (that and gas guzzlers)

I say amen to that! Let them file for bankruptcy and come back a better company.
I'm tired of them making cars they want, not cars Americans want to drive.
