How secure is YOUR job?
Three people I know have been laid off within the last week (all different companies). Makes me start to wonder how secure my job is?????

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
I'm in healthcare (although on leave) so I'm secure but DH's job is always in limbo as he's an engineer and the tech industry is always rocky.

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
The news said that most people who lost their jobs, can't afford healthcare. This makes me sick

Yes, it is definitely nauseating. COBRA heath insurance is $500/month for me, not including my DH. Unfortunately, I am without insurance right now, bc that is just insane!!

I got a very inexpensice policy to cover me while I figure out what I am doing (I am working but 1099 and health insurace is way too much for someone like me that never goes to the doctor)
I can give you the guys name
you don't want to go 62 days with out coverage
I am paying $250 for 2 people- and I think it's $175 for one person

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
i'm not worried. my company is doing well and i am thankful for that. if they did make cut backs, there's one or two positions that might be in jeopardy and fortunately again, i don't hold either of them.

My "job" is secure, my earning potential isnt (restaurant). Thats why I am trying my hardest to get out! I graduated college a year ago so we'll see.

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
With my current company, I'd say it's iffy at best. However I work in a field where I can work for myself at any point so I will do that if/when the situation at my company changes. DH's company is doing well so far but you just never know what will happen. It makes me very nervous.

So far we are OK, but being that we rely on advertisers to pay our bills, it could change at any moment.

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
I work for a large home healthcare agency and we had a big meeting yesterday that 1.) We are not getting our bonuses this year and 2.) they were alluding to possible lay-offs down the road.
Needless to say, after makes his debut, I am planning to start bombarding places with resumes---even if I have to take a pay-cut!!

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
I work in a private dental office & I'm one of the highest paid so if things really go south there's a chance I'd be let go. I also own a consulting firm which is benefiting from the poor economy now but again if things get really bad there will be no clients.
My DH is in construction in the Hamptons, it is extremely grim out there now.

Re: How secure is YOUR job?
unfortunately my job is very secure. I am probably the lowest on the totem pole. Fiiring me would have no financial significance to them. My bosses probably spend more than what I make on drinks (and some unnamed illegal substances) for the week
