muffled hearing in left ear...
So I have a bad head cold last and have since recovered except that Thursday morning I oke up and my left ear felt "clogged" like after flying and it needs to be pooped. It has not subsided and it is so annoying. There is minimal pain but it is uncomfortable. I took some ClaritinD today to try and dry it up. Any other suggestions? I will do anything to make this stop!!!!!

Re: muffled hearing in left ear...
whenever i've had that (and it happens a LOT) - i use Mucinex....you need the decongestant one....or ask the pharmacist which one would be best...(it hasn't happened to me in about 6 months)...
It's left over congestion that has clogged your ear - so you need it to drain...it STINKS and i'm so sorry you're dealing with it.
In the past - i've gone so far as to buy ear plugs - because that 'tinny' sound in my ear was so frustrating!!!!

Re: muffled hearing in left ear...
wow - i am dealing with the exact same thing right now! that's why i just posted for an ear nose and throat doctor recommendation. my dh had this problem once and it didn't go away for like a month. 2 weeks of prescription strength decongestant from an ent doctor finally did it. my ear has been clogged for a week now and i'm started to go nuts. let me know if anything works for you and i'll do the same! i wish i had read this yesterday, i would have bought mucinex that the pp recommended. i bought zyrtec-d but it hasn't helped much. i also tried claritin-d which hasn't helped much either.

Re: muffled hearing in left ear...
Thankfully, last night I was able to "pop" my ears by holding my nose and blowing. I have tried that for the past 5 days and no relief, but last night it finally came. I am like a new woman. It made my night! So silly, I know, but you know you know what I am talking about here. It is a terrible feeling! I don't know if it was the Claritin D or not. If this happens again I am going to try the mucinex because the ClaritinD made me feel weird. Thanks for the reccommendation Jess. I hope you find relief soon Jewlels!!

Re: muffled hearing in left ear...
This happened to me and I wasn't able to hear for 3 weeks straight. I couldn't make an appt with my doctor for 3 weeks b/c of my work schedule, so I used Debrox twice a day for a week or so up to the dr's appt and than he was able to irrigate my ear when I got there. It was insane how immediately I could hear perfectly... Come to find out I had double ear infections when I thought it was a cold, and I was in so much pain until the antibiotics kicked in, but it was worth it to be able to hear again! feel better

Re: muffled hearing in left ear...
Just to throw this theory out there... I had the same thing happen to me once and after it didn't pop after a couple of days, I went to my doctor and it was actually wax. I know that is gross, but they had to get it out and as soon as it came out I could hear again.

That was exactly my problem.. I'd get it checked out - you will be much happier!
